Stratford NZ Conservation Corps

The Stratford Conservation Corps operates under the Kaupapa of the Taranaki Environmental Education Trust of MANAAKI WHENUA MANAAKI TANGATA (If you care for the Land you nurture the People). The Taranaki Environmental Education Trust sponsors the New Zealand Conservation Corps which are funded by the Ministry of Youth Affairs. The NZ Conservation Corps have been operating for more than 10 years.

The aims of the Stratford NZ Conservation Corps are:

"To involve our young people in useful conservation projects, appropriate education experiences and challenging recreational activities, thus helping build confidence and their potential within the wider community"

Recreational Activities

New Zealand Conservation Corps Life in the NZ Conservation Corps is not all work. Developing skills and team work is an integral part of the programme.

Conservation Projects

The moon is in the last quarter so it is time to finish off old jobs. Our 6m wooden sail boat gets a final hand sand before the paint goes on, to give it a fresh new look, as well as conserving the original style. once finished this old sailboat will be used to learn the ropes of the trade.
