Chicken Keeping Workshop - Saturday 28 August

All you need to know about keeping chickens

Sustainable School Activities

Many schools have visited the Taranaki Environment Centre over the past years for hands-on activity times covering all kinds of learning activities such as:

Food waste recycling - investigating worm farms & bokashi systems, making compost, brewing compost tea, how the compost toilet works.

Making Juice Food harvesting & processing - juicing drinks, grinding grains, cooking  damper bread on an open fire, making pizzas in the outdoor pizza oven

Food growing - making potting mix, planting seeds, propagating cuttings, feeding compost to the soil

Looking at microscopic organisms in compost, water and soil

Looking at organisms in the microscope

Learning about water systems and more.

If you'd like to bring a group of children (or adults) to the site in Inglewood, during the school term or school holidays, please contact the Centre to make a personalised booking.
