WWOOFers & Interns

World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOFers)

The Taranaki Environment Centre welcomes WWOOFers who can work independently and are able to utilise our self-catering kitchen. Our experience is that people who garden enjoy working at the Centre, and preferably spend a week minimally at the Centre. At times we may advertise for WWOOFers to help on specific projects at the Centre.

See the WWOOF in NZ website for more general information .

Interns

The Taranaki Environment Centre welcomes applications from Interns wishing to participate in our Demonstration, Education and Networking programs and projects.

We are able to provide accommodation and a self-catering kitchen to applicants with a certain level of understanding and skills appropriate to on-going activities around education for Permaculture and Sustainability projects. The site includes an organic garden certified with OFNZ and everyone at the Centre participates in maintaining it year-round.

The duration of the internship would be dependent upon the project at hand and the applicant's knowledge and skills, but generally interns would be contracted for 1 to 6 months. We are not able to offer financial remuneration.

Basically, there are 3 intern skill sets required:

The site is open to the public seven days a week and any intern would need good social and communication skills and would need to enjoy dealing with visitors on-site and public enquiries.

Please direct all enquiries to the Centre.

Over the years, we have hosted many wonderful people from New Zealand and from abroad, and they have contributed much positive energy to the atmosphere and constructive activities at the Centre. We look forward to meeting new people and we appreciate the opportunity for all of us to learn from each other.
